Mise-en-scene
Costume
Primarily consisting of normal, urban teenage outfits. Meant to represent a sense of familiarity with the audience and hopefully makes the music more relatable to a younger, rebellious youth.
Lighting
Depends on the mood. More "serious" songs will be low-key lit whilst more brighter songs will be more lighter and colourful in appearance. Variance in lighting helps to make videos stand out against each other.
Actors
Lead actor of the band shown only. Rest of the band mysterious and hidden. Creates a sense of mystery within the audience.
Make-up
Primarily none; relates to costume. Allows my audience to relate more to the band and helps them seem more "real" and "authentic" compared to other bands. Shows that my actor is a regular person underneath all the glamour.
Props
Depends on the music video, but I'll showcase everyday props such as pen and paper and phones and such. This reinforces the "familiar" aspect of my band - audiences will have seen these items every day, which again makes everything seem more real; maybe even incorporating hyper-reality.
Setting
My music videos will primarily be set in locations in or around London. The urban setting is perfect for my band as it'll once again highlight a sense of familiarity and realness to everything despite the foreign elements such as the lyrics. It reminds the audience of the diversity of my band.
